artist biography
Tore Hultcrantz was a Swedish artist born on 30th January, 1923 in Djursholm.

He studied in Stockholm at both Otte Skölds målarskola (Painting School) and the Konstakademien (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), and on study trips to Norway, France, Italy, Spain.

Hultcrantz exhibited widely during his career. Select solo exhibitions include Galleries Noa-Noa in Copehhagen in 1950s, Gummesons Konstgallery in 1951 and 1956, Hudiksalls Museum in 1958, Västerås Art Society in 1961. Group exhibition he participated in included Unga tecknare at the National Museum Stockholm 1950 and 1951, Meltzer Gallery, New York in 1954, St George’s Gallery of Prints, London in 1954.

Examples of public art by Hultrcrantz include glass painting at Handelsbanken's headquarters, al fresco paintings in Läkarhuset, Vällingby and Svenska Metallverken in Västerås.

Hultcrantz’s work is represented in public collection in Sweden including the National Museum is Stockholm, the Modern Museet, Hudiksvalls Museum, and Västerås Museum.

Hultcrantz passed away in 1998.
