artist biography
Svea Jansson born 1920 in Valdemarsvikwas a Swedish painter.
Jansson studied art under a number of well respected Swedish painters - Albin Ferneman, Anders Österlin and Jöran Salmson before traveling to the painting school Castiglione in Italy in 1959, with Arne Isacsson and Georg Suttner at the Gerlesborg School in 1960, Svolver Lofoten in 1964, and at San Michèle, Capri in 1967. She participated in several of Värmland's art association exhibits at Värmland's museum, as well as exhibiting at the Museum Kvarnen in Filipstad, and also at Karlstad, Karlskoga, Kil, Vejbystrand, Uddeholm and in Stockholm. She was awarded the Värmlands konstförening stipendium (Värmland Art Society) scholarship in 1968 and the Swedish Government's Big Work Scholarship in 1980.
Examples of her work are represented at the Värmland Museum, The National Collections, Värmland County Council and some 20 works in the Filipstad municipality's collections.
Jansson passed away in 1986, aged 66.
