artist biography
Magnus Creutz was born July 14, 1909 in Borg, Östergötland. He was a Swedish painter and print maker.

Magnus Creutz studied art under Gösta von Hennigs and Isaac Grünewald at the Kungliga Konsthögskolan (Royal Academy of Arts) in Stockholm from 1930 to 1935. He took private study trips to France, Italy, Yugoslavia and Norway. Creutz was a teacher at the Konstfackskolan from 1950 to 1969. He was curator for the SAK - Sveriges allmänna konstförening - Sweden's general art association between 1958 and 1976.

Creutz painted landscapes, figurative works and harbour scenes, and also worked as a print maker. He produced illustrations for publications including Johannes Buchholtz’s Under det gyllene trädet (Under the Golden Tree) in 1947.

Creutz is represented at, among others, the Ateneum in Helsinki, the National Museum in Stockholm, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sörmland Museum, Borås Museum, Östergötland Museum in Linköping, Jämtland County Museum in Östersund,Norrköping Art Museum , and the Ticino Institute in Paris.

He passed away at the age of 80 on November 2, 1989 in Stockholm.
