Walter Elvir Persson was a Swedish artist born February 17, 1918 in Malmö.
Persson studied at the Skånska målarskolan (Painting School) in Malmö and for extended study trips to Copenhagen, France and Spain. He was married to fellow artist Barbro Cheesman (1915-1993).
Select exhibitions include solo shows at the Art Hall Rålambshof in Stockholm in 1949 and Modern konst i hemmiljö (Modern Art in the Home Environment) in 1961. Together with Cheesman, he exhibited in Östersund, the Malmö museum and at Galerie Duncan in Paris in 1951. Beginning in 1943 he regularly showed in group exhibitions with Skåne's art association. Persson painted scenes from eastern Skåne, portraits and figurative compositions executed in oil and pastel. He often signed his painting E. Walter.
