artist biography
Nils Torsten Johansson, born May 25, 1922 in Sönderum near Halmstad, was a Swedish painter.
Johansson was a self taught artist. He made numerous study trips to the Netherlands, Romania and Morocco, among locations. His first exhibition was in Halmstad in 1946. Johnasson exhibited alongside with Gustaf Skoglund in Växjö in 1956. He regularly participated in exhibitions with Halland's Konstförening (Art Association) beginning 1952. Johansson painted still life, landscapes and figurative work in oil, pastel ,watercolour and gouache. He signed his art Nils J: son. His work is is the public collection of the represented at Halland County Council.
Johansson passed away in 2014.
