artist biography
Adrian van Arkel was born in Leiden, The Netherlands, in 1924. He moved to Sweden in 1953. He was a Dutch / Swedish painter and printmaker.
Van Arkel studied at the Royal Academy of Art (Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten, KABK) in The Hague, the Académie Frochot, Paris and the Royal Institute of Art (Kungliga Konsthögskolan) in Stockholm - under Bror Hjorth (1894-1968) and Lennart Rodhe (1916-2005). He travelled to took study trips to France, Spain, Greece and Mexico.
Examples of his work are held in the collection of Stockholm County Council.
Van Arkel passed in 2006, aged 82.
