artist biography
Tord Leander Engström was born March 4, 1914. He was a Swedish painter.
He studied at Otte Skölds målarskola (painting school) and the Konstakademien (Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm. He took private study trips to France and Italy. Engström painted landscapes from the Nordic regions including Lofoten and Lapland, as well as Corsica.
Engström’s father was the artist Per Leander Engström (1886-1927). His twin brother Kjell Leander Engström (1914-1979) was also an artist.
Examples of Engström’s work is held in the public collection of the Norrköping Art Museum.
He passed away in 1985 and is buried in Tornehamn's cemetery, also called Rallarekyrkogården.
