artist biography
Carl Albin Berndtsson was born September 19, 1902 in Lyby, Skåne. He was a Swedish artist.
He began drawing as a the boy, but it wasn’t until to 1928 that he seriously devoted himself to painting.As an artist, Berntsson was self-taught. He took private study trips and studied during trips to Denmark, Norway, England, Belgium, France and South Africa.
Berndtsson exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions - he had solo exhibitions in Stockholm and Köping. Select group exhibitions include ones at Thurestam's Art Salon in Stockholm in 1943, Statens Konstrads art exhibition in 1939, Sweden's Allm. Konstförening, and Skänes Konstförening in 1935.
He painted of flower still lifes, mountain scenes from Jämtland, cityscape and landscape paintings. Examples of his work are held in public collections including the Kristianstad Museum, Helsingborg Museum, Landskrona Museum and Höganäs Museum.
Berndtsson passed away in 1983.
