artist biography
Ulf Ernst Ingemar Wikström was a Swedish painter born in 1916 in Stockholm. Largely self taught he is best known for his still life and landscapes with a cubist influence very much with in his own style. Wikström’s had early solo exhibitions in Skara and Mjölby in 1947, Örebro (1948), Karlskoga (1949), Expo Aleby in Stockholm (1950), Galleries S in Stockholm (1962 )and in Norrtälje in 1964. Together with Eric Harry Olson, he exhibited in Kalmar in 1949 and with Alf Wesström in Eksjö in 1951. He exhibited in numerous group shows with the Värmland art association at the Värmland Museum for a succession of years, as well as with the Dalsland Art Association, at the Gothenburg Art Gallery and at Liljevalch's art gallery in Stockholm.
Wikström’s work is represented in a number of public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Värmland Museum in Karlstad and Jönköping Museum.
He passed away in 1981 aged 65.
