Bengt Olof Arén was born April 14, 1918 in Åmål. He was a Swedish artist.
Arén studied industrial art at the Tekniska skolan in Stockholm 1937 from 1942 and then fine art under for Isaac Grünewald and Fritiof Schüldt at the Konsthögskolan (Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm between 1941 and 1946. He took private study trips around Europe including Germany, Belgium, France and Sicily. His debut solo exhibition was at Konstnärshuset in Stockholm in 1953. Other solo shows included ones at galleries in Uppsala and Borås.
He showed in in group exhibitions including ones with Sveriges allmänna konstförening (Sweden's general art association), at Rålambshof, and in the exhibition Modern konst i hemmiljö (Modern Art in the Home) and the Uppländsk konst exhibition in Uppsala.
He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Italian Art Academy Accademia della Arte & del Lavoro. Examples of his work are held in the public collections of the Stockholm Municipality, Stockholm City Hall, the Riksdag House, the State Arts Council and in assorted Swedish county councils.
Arén passed away at the age of 85 on May 17, 2003 in Stockholm.
