artist biography
Carl-William Hammar was born December 6, 1918 in Helsinki. He was a Finnish-Swedish painter.
Hammar studied at the Konstakademien (Art Academy) in Helsinki and the Konstakademien in Stockholm. He painted still lifes, portraits , landscapes and cityscapes.
Among his work he created a number of public works, including a notable mural in the Hagalund hall in Solna centrum. Examples of his work are held in the collections of the Solna Municipality and Sundbyberg Municipality.
He passed away on April 27, 2006.
