artist biography
Johan Agnar Walter Johansson-Kåstad was born 11 June, 1912 in Karlstad. He was a Swedish painter and illustrator.
He was the son of the merchant Erik Johan Johansson and Stina Johansson. As a teenager he was a cyclist in IF Göta. Kåstad studied artfunder Olof W. Nilsson in Karlstad and with Helge Zandén and Gustaf Fjæstad in periods during the years 1929 to 1940. He also worked as an illustrator including advertising posters for SAS Scandinavian Airlines. He produced a series of watercolour paintings in 1950 that were shown at SAS House. He also taught art course leader in art and among his students is Leif Saltell .
Among his public works are paintings made at the Turistpensionatet in Sysslebäck.
Kåstad painted landscape scenes in oil and watercolour.
He passed away in 1980.
