artist biography
Painter and graphic artist, born 1910 in the Amsberg Assembly in Stora Tuna, Sweden.
Rosén studied at the Royal Academy in Stockholm between 1939 and 1944, with artists Otte Sköld and Frithiof Schüldt as teachers. He took study trips abroad to Holland, France and Spain.
He painted portraits, figurative compositions, landscapes from Öland, and wood engravings. In addition to painting, he has also worked as an illustrator and created graphic work, mostly with woodcuts and lithographs.
His debut exhibition was in 1939 at the Dalarna Art Association in Sweden.
His painting has solid and sympathetic qualities, wrote DN's critic Yngve Berg in the 1950s.
Public art: Altarmålning in Långshyttans kyrka in Dalarna 1954.
Rosén passed away in 1998 in died in Bromma, Sweden aged 78.

His work featured in numerous publications over the years including ‘Konstfrämjandets’ and FiB’s ‘Konstklubbs Utgivning’.
Represented: in the National Museum in Stockholm, the Modern Museum in Stockholm, the Kalmar Museum, and the collection of King Gustav VI Adolf.
