artist biography
Erik Leonard Emanuelsson was born 19 August, 1914 in Hishult, Halland. He was a Swedish artist. 

Emanuelsson studied at the Konstgillets painting school in Borås. He lived in France from 1946 to 1948 and studied with Othon Friesz, André Plason and Pierre Jérôme at the Académie Julian.

He debuted with a solo exhibition at the Konstgalleriet in Borås in 1947. Other solo exhibitions included Stadshuset in Falkenberg, Galleri Gränden, Hälsingborg in 1963, Galleri Maneten in Gothenburg in 1965, and Galleri Latina in Stockholm 1965. He showed in many group exhibitions including shows in Borås, Skara and Halmstad, Höstsalongen (Autumn Salon) at Halland Museum in Halmstad in 1961, 1963 and 1964, the Stockholm Salon at Liljevalchs in 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966, the Gothenburg Salon in 1962 and 1964, and the Läckö Salon in 1964.

He is best known for  still lifes, abstracts, model studies, portraits, cityscapes and landscapes. Examples of his work are held in several county council collections and at Rederi AB Svenska Lloyd.

He passed away on 10 September 1987 in Sandhult, Älvsborg.
