artist biography
Leif Dreier Gaihede was born in 1926 in Skagen. the northernmost town in Denmark. He was a Danish painter, sculptor and ceramicist.
Gaihede studied at the Kunsthändværkerskolen (Arts and Crafts School) from 1948 to 1952. He took private study trips to Sweden, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands.
Gaihede exhibited works at galleries in Denmark including in his home town of Skagen and outside of Denmark including shows in Germany (Düsseldorf).
In addition to his paintings Gaihede also designed textile prints, sculptures and ceramics for Skagens Keramik. Examples of his work are held in numerous private collections which included Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark and public collections Skagen Bank.
He passed away in 1969.
