Karl Gunnar Svensson was born September 14, 1913 in Stockholm. He was a Swedish artist.
Svensson worked as an acrobat, bricklayer and stonemason before moving on to becoming a painter. He was predominantly self-taught but took study trips to Norway, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
He had solo exhibition at De ungas salong in 1946, Aleby's art salon in Stockholm in 1948 and Karlskoga in 1958. Alongside Gerry Eckhardt he exhibited in Umeå in 1951, with Astrid Rietz in Karlshamn in 1952, andwith Olle Nordberg in Vännäs in 1954. He exhibited in the Riksförbundet för bildande konsts (National Association for Visual Arts) touring exhibition with Svensk nutidskonst (Swedish Contemporary Art) and Yngre svensk konst (Young Swedish Art), and the Sveriges allmänna konstförenings (Swedish Art Association) spring salons at Liljevalch's konsthall.
Svensson is best know for his interiors, portraits, and landscapes. Svensson is represented in the permanent collection of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm with the oil painting 'Svea' which can be viewed here.
He passed away at the age of 52 on January 7, 1966 in Skarpnäc.
