Tage Gunnar Hedqvist was a Swedish artist born in 1909 in Piteå.

Hedqvist graduated in 1929 and studied at the Otte Sköld’s Painting School in Stockholm. Initially he painted figurative and landscape artworks in oil. Hedqvist was influenced by modern French painting, and he favourite subjects and inspirations included the archipelago of Stockholm, Arild and Kullabygden as well as southern France. As his career progressed into the 1950s and 60s his work headed in more of an abstract direction.

Hedqvist produced numerous public art pieces around Sweden including painted murals, mosaics and textiles. In addition he worked in the theater creating theater backdrops and art direction in the 1940s and 50s.
