artist biography
Paul Bernhard Petersén was born November 1, 1900 in Lidköping. He was a Swedish painter.

Petersén studied painting at the Slöjdföreningens skola in Gothenburg from 1929 to 1932, then for a short time at Otte Sköld's painting school and Grünewald's painting school in Stockholm, and under Othon Friesz in Paris.

Petersén’s debut solo exhibition was in 1946 at Lorensberg's art salon in Gothenburg. He followed up with a solo exhibition at Färg och Form in Stockholm in 1948, followed by a series of exhibitions in several Swedish rural towns. Together with Bengt Blomquist he exhibited in Malmö and alongside Uno Vallman in Borås. He participated in the National Museum's exhibition ‘Unga tecknare’ (Young Artists) and in the December exhibitions at Gothenburg Art Gallery. Among his public works is an altarpiece for Ödenäs church. He painted still lifes, landscapes and figurative works.

Examples of Petersén’s work is represented in the Vänermuseet in Lidköping.

He passed away at the age on 67 on December 16, 1967 in Västra Bodarna, Alingsås.
