artist biography
Gösta Owe Stawåsen was born April 7, 1918 in Kågeröd, Malmöhus. He was a Swedish painter.

He was the son of the photographer Erik Lundahl and Olga Svensson and from 1947 married to Karin Ingegerd Johansson.

As an artist, Stawåsen was self-taught. He took private study trips to France, Germany, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. He lived in many different cities in Sweden over the years but counted Ångermanland and Västergötland as his fixed points. Stawåsen exhibited in solo and group shows. Select solo exhibitinos include on in Visby in 1944 and Sollefteå in 1947. He had a two person show with Olle Wilner at Konstsalong Rålambshof in Stockholm in 1947. He showed in group exhibitions arranged by Sveriges allmänna konstförening (Sweden's general art association), Borås and Sjuhäradsbygden's art association as well as group exhibitions at Konstsalong Rålambshof.

Stawåsen painted portrait, still lifes, buildings and landscape works. In addition to painting he produced a number of public works including a decorative concrete wall with stucco at Kolmården Zoo. He is represented in the public collection of the Kalmar Art Museum.

Stawåsen passed away on January 2, 1974 in Hökerum.
