artist biography
Alex William Öberg was born 12 April 1910 in Norberg , Västmanland. He was a Swedish painter.
Öberg studied at a number of private painting schools and took sketching at the Konstakademien in Stockholm under the supervision of Otte Sköld.
He showed his work in both solo and group exhibitions. Select solo exhibitions include ones at Modern konst i hemmiljö (Modern Art in the Home) in 1948, De ungas salong in 1951 and at galleries in several smaller Swedish cities. He exhibited with Arvid Knöppel at Lorensbergs konstsalong in Gothenburg and with Torsten Dahl and Georg Källkvist in Eskilstuna. He participated in group exhibitions arranged by Dalarnas konstförening, Sveriges allmänna konstförening and Liljevalchs Stockholmsalonger as well as in group exhibitions with various Dala artists.
He ist best known for his landscapes, still lifes and figurative works.
Öberg passed away in 1971.
