Bengt Ivar Crantz was born July 25, 1916 in Toarp, Älvsborg. He was a Swedish painter..
Crantz grew up as the son of a farmer. After school he studied for a short period at Otte Sköld's målarskola (painting school) but was mainly self-taught as an artist. He showed his work in solo and group exhibitions. His solo shows were predominantly at galleries in Gothenburg and Stockholm. He also exhibited regularly in group exhibitions including ones curated by the curated by artist group Dalslandsmålarna, of which he was a member. He painted landscape, still life and figurative works predominantly in oil characterised by a strong impasto.
Examples of Crantz's work is held in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Malmö Museum, and the Herman Gotthardt collection
He passed away in 2001.
