artist bio
Karl Gustav Leonard Holmgren was born December 4, 1888 in Stockholm. He was a Swedish painter, print maker, curator and press commissioner.
Holmgren studied at the Tekniska skolan in Stockholm and Althin's målarskola (Painting School) in Stockholm. For many years he worked as a press commissioner at the National Museum and one of the initiators of the National Museum's exhibition and lecture activities. He was also a curator of exhibitions at the Nordic Museum, Liljevalchs konsthall and Konstnärshuset.
Holgrem is produced landscapes, portraits and figurative works.
He is represented in the collectiosn of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm and in the Gustav VI Adolf collection.
Holmgren passed away in 1972.
