artist biography
Iván Maüsche Grünewald was born 26 November 1911 in Engelbrekt, Stockholm. He was a Swedish arist.
He was the son of two of the most prominent figures in 20th Century Swedish art - Isaac Grünewald and Sigrid Hjertén. After interrupting his studies as a concert pianist in Paris, Iván Grünewald was accepted as an aspirant at the Konstakademien (Academy of Fine Arts) in 1930.
He is represented in the collection of the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Gothenburg Museum of Art, Gävle Museum, Tel Aviv Museum of Art and L'Institut Tessin, Paris.
Grünewald passed away on 23 July, 1996 in Saltsjöbaden, Stockholm.
