artist biography
Hans Bertil Lennart Holm was born on March 6, 1933 in Linköping. He was a Swedish painter, printmaker and art teacher.

Holm studied the Konstakademin (Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm from 1950 to 1953. After completing his study he worked as an art teacher at schools in Linköping and Norrköping. He exhibited in 1949 with Knut Sandberg and Thorsten Andersson in Linköping and from 1951 regularly participated in Östgöta Art Association's group exhibitions. In 1950 he exhibited in a show of Academy students in the University's gallery in Uppsala, in 1952 in the exhibition Unga Tecknare at the National Museum and in 1955 in Nystedt's autumn salon in Linköping. He painted in oil as well as producing print editions in various techniques.

He was awarded the Östgöta Art Association's scholarship in 1950 and 1952, the Östgötabarn Association in Stockholm in 1954 and the second prize together with Barbara Weinreich in the Royal Opera's competition for the decor for Carmen.

Examples of his work are held in the the collection of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm and the Östergötlands Museum. Among his public art pieces is a mural at a daycare centre in Årsta.

Holm passed away at the age at the young of just 38 on July 13,1971 in Torremolinos, Spain. He is buried at the Gamla griftegården in Linköping.
