artist biography
Tryggve Nilsson-Stig was a Swedish painter and drawing teacher born March 10, 1919 in Norrköping.

He was the son of the civil engineer Torsten Johan Nilsson-Stig and Pauline Forsman and in 1942 married Ebba Thalén. Nilsson-Stig trained as a drawing teacher at the Konstfackskolan in Stockholm from 1944 to 1949 and studied art through several study trips around Europe. He had a number of exhibitions in Umeå, as well as other Swedish cities. He was represented in Västerbotten County Konstförenings traveling exhibition ‘Yngre Västerbottenskonstnärer’ (Younger Västerbotten Artists) in 1955. He created some public art pieces including a large mural for the Sundsvalls vattenverk. His art consists of abstracts compositions predominantly in oil. Nilsson-Stig is represented by in public collections including the Umeå municipality.

Nilsson-Stig passed away in 1999 at the age of 80.
