He was a Swedish painter, costume, theatrical and set designer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGarmland studied at \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eEdward Berggrens målarskola (painting schoo) and the \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eKonstakademin (\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eAcademy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm  from 1926 to 1928, and during study trips to France, where he attended the Académie Colarossi , as well as the Netherlands and England. He worked as a theatre set designer at the Södra Teatern revue in 1929 and continued over the years with theatre sets for Ernst Rolf at China, as well as the Oscarsteatern, Blancheteatern and the Royal Swedish Opera. \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eHe worked for the Swedish Film Institute designed sets and participated in the production of about 25 films. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis is best known for is fine art with figurative works, landscapes and abstracts and a large body of work of theatrical decorations.
