Karl Iwan Sigfrid Andersson Broberg was born July 2, 1887 in Söndrum, Halland. He was a Swedish artist and stonemason.
Broberg initially studied at Halmstads tekniska yrkesskola (Halmstad's Technical School) from 1919 to 1920. He worked as a stonemason in Sweden as well the USA, Germany and neighbouring Nordic countries. His career as an artist started in 1922 at the age of 35 years old when he began studying painting under Sigfrid Ullman at Valands målarskola (painting school) in Gothenburg. He took painting study trips to Denmark, England and France.
Broberg’s debut solo exhibition was at Galleri Olsen's Art Salon in Gothenburg in 1947. He participated in group exhibitions with the art group Hallandsringen and exhibited in other solo and group shows throughout his career. Best known for his works in oil of interiors, marines, still lifes, city scenes, beach and mountain areas with a focus on areas in Gothenburg. Broberg is represented in public collections in Sweden including works at the Gothenburg Art Museum, Halmstad Art Museum, Borås Art Museum and Varberg City Library.
He passed away in 1975.
