artist biography
Gunnar Herman Berglund was born 9 November, 1906 in Helsingborg. He was a Swedish painter and illustrator.

Berglund studied at the Skånska målarskolan (Skåne Painting School) from 1939 ti 1940 and with William Nording on Öland in 1942, watercoloru studies at the Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi (Danish Academy of Fine Arts) from 1946 to 1947, followed by study in London,  and then at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in 1947. He had solo exhibitions in Kalmar, Malmö, Ystad. Ängelholm and Kristianstad. He participated in group exhibitions with the Sveriges allmänna konstförening (Swedish General Art Association), the Gothenburg Art Association and the Skåne Art Association . He participated in the group exhibition De tolv (The Twelve) in Ystad in 1949. He is best known for his figurative works, coastal scenes and landscape paintings in oil, tempera, gouache and watercolour as well as drawings. Examples of his work are held in the collection of the Malmö Museum.

Berglund passed away on 6 October, 1992 in Kirseberg, Malmö.
