artist biography
Wolfgang Hirsch was born July 3, 1924 in Greifswald, Germany. He was a German/Swedish painter and designer.
Hirsch studied art at the Hausmann Art School in Berlin from 1938 to 1939. He studied mural painting between 1948 and 1949 and at the Konsthögskolan (Academy of Fine Arts ) in Stockholm in 1950 and at the Reybekiels konstskola in Stockholm. He took private study trips to Denmark, England and Germany. He exhibited alongside Ingemar Callenberg at Galleri Tre Kart in Stockholm and he exhibited in numerous group exhibitions. Among his public works is the mural Cirkus (Circus) at Bagarmossens barnavårdscentral. He was a designer at Skansens Keramik in Stockholm.
Hirsch passed away in 2011.
