He was a Finnish painter and print maker \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eHaarala studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1948 to 1949 and at the School of the Finnish Academy of Arts from 1950 to 1954. He also took Aukusti Tuhka's graphic arts course from 1954 to 1955.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eHaarala participated in the Nuorten näyttelyyn  in 1955 and the Suomen Taiteilijain näyttelyyn (Finnish Artists Exhibition) in 1956. Beginning in the late 1950s, he participated in several international exhibitions in the Nordic countries, England, West Germany and the United States. Olavi Haarala's 25th anniversary artist exhibition was held at the Lahti Art Museum in 1977.
