artist biography
Erik Bertil Almlöf was born June 13, 1930 in Linköping. He is a Swedish painter and print maker.

Almlöf studied at the Valands konsthögskola (Valand Academy of Art) in Gothenburg between 1953 and 1957.

As a painter, Almlöf is primarily known for his original landscape scenes. The non-realistic motifs are often plains views in idiosyncratic colours and motifs in outline. Strong colours, often in contrast to other strong colours, are another of his hallmarks. Red and yellow often appear sometimes together with blue or green.

Almlöf's work can be found in the collections of Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Gothenburg Art Museum, Östergötland Museum, Norrköping Art Museum, Örebro County Council, Allende Museum in Chile and the British Museum, London.
