artist biography
Ingrid Elisabet Hillevi Wetterhall-Mautner was born 5 June 1904 in Västervik. She was a Swedish painter and print maker.
Wetterhall-Mautner studied art at the Skånska målarskolan (painting school) in Malmö and at Otte Sköld's painting school in Stockholm before continuing her studies in Paris with Marcel Gromaire in 1939 and with André Lhote in 1948 and 1949. She took frequent study trips Europe including time spent in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Greece.
She began her artistic career as a portrait painter, but gradually switched to becoming an abstract colourist. Wetterhall-Mautner exhibited at galleries in Lund, at Galleri Qualité in Malmö in 1964 and at Galérie la Voulte in Lund in 1965. She painted portraits and landscapes executed in oil or gouache as well as drawings. A work by Wetterhall-Mautner is held in the collection at the Malmö Museum.
She passed away on 28 December 1990 in Lund.
