artist biography
Ingvar Elén was born in Stockholm on 28th June 1915. He was a Swedish painter and print maker.
Elén attended the Kungliga Konsthögskolan Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm from 1933 to 1937 and took private study trips to Denmark and Norway. Elén then studied in Paris in 1937, returning to Sweden in 1939. He travelled to the South of France, Italy and visited London (1947-48) and then Spain in 1952.
Elén exhibited at the Konstnärshuset, Stockholm in1 949 and Boras in 1951. Group exhibitions include the Swedish Art Society's annual exhibition at Liljevalchs Konsthall in Stockholm in 1946 and 1951.
Examples of Elén's works are held in the collections of the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, the National Museum, Stockholm and the Sörmlands Museum.

He passed away in Stockholm in 1973, aged 58.
