artist biography
Kurt Egon Dejmo was born 15 August 1919 in Jukkasjärviv. He was a Swedish artist.

Dejmo studied at Isaac Grünewalds mälarskola from 1943 to 1946  and in Paris at and in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in 1947. He took private study trips to France in 1947 and to Bornholm in 1949 and 1950.

He exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout his career. Select exhibitions include  a show at Louis Hahnes in Stockholm in 1946, in the exhibitions Unga tecknare  at the National Museum, Stockholm in 1948 and 1951, in Sweden allmänna konstförenings exhibitions at Liljevalchs konsthall in 1948 and 1950 and in exhibitions at the Uddevalla museum in 1949 and 1950. 

Dejmo is best known for his figurative works, still lifes and landscapes from Paris and Halland. He married fellow artist Ulla-Britta Emitslöf in 1948. He produced a number of public artworks including a piece he produced with his wife in 1975 for Kungälv's church. He was awarded the Hultmans Vhenner scholarship in 1975 and the leisure and culture committee's scholarship in Kiruna in 1984. 

Examples of Dejmo’s work is held in public collections including at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the National Museum in Stockholm, the Bohusläns museum and King Gustav VI Adolf's collection.

He passed away in Herrestad, Uddevalla on 11 September, 2009.
