artist biography
Carl Bernhard Neuman was born May 3, 1895 in Gothenburg. He was a Swedish artist.
Neuman studied at the Konstakademien (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm and in Paris. He painted and drew portraits, landscapes and harbour scenes.
Examples of his work are held in the collections he Gothenburg Art Museum and Malmö Museum as well as at Västerås Art Museum and Borås Art Museum.
Bernhard Neuman was for a time married to Florence Wahlinder (1881–1954). With her he had a daughter, Eva Brandelius (1920–1987), who was a journalist and married twice - to the author Walter Ljungquist and the artist Harry Brandelius. Later, Neuman was married to Gulli Svenborg Ingegärd Neuman (1916–1989). He is buried in the Neumanska family grave at Angelstad's cemetery in Småland, where his parents and also rest.
Neuman passed away at the age of 78 on January 13, 1974 in Malmö.
