artist biography
Ebba Margareta Treutiger (née Åberg) was born on July 3, 1930 in Gothenburg. She was a Swedish textile artist, painter and art teacher.

After graduating high school Treutiger studied at Konstfackskolan in Stockholm between 1950 and 1954 and again from 1955 to 1958. She graduated as an art teacher in 1957. In 1956 she married painter and sculptor Torsten Treutiger (1932-2019). They exhibited together on a number of occasions including a joint shows at Galleri Brinken in Stockholm in 1961, and alongside Nils-Göran Bennich-Björkman in 1962 at Galerie Catharina in Stockholm. 

She participated in the exhibition Form i centrum at Lunds konsthall, the exhibition aspect 61 at Liljevalchs konsthall and in a series of arts and crafts exhibitions. 

She produced many public art pieces, working with visual textiles including work for the Stadshotellet in Varberg, Hotel Continental in Stockholm, Lund municipality and antependium for Bosebo Church.

Treutiger predominantly worked as a textile artist and made pictorial textiles, but she also worked with painting both oil and gouache.

She passed away at the age of 81 on July 13, 2021 in Täby.
