artist biography
Agnes Ulla-Britta Emitslöf-Dejmo, born 15 February 1924 in Älmhult, was a Swedish painter and illustrator.
Emitslöf-Dejmo studied art under artist Nils Wedel at the Slöjdföreningens skola (Handicraft Association's school) in Gothenburg from 1945 to 1946, at Otte Sköld's painting school in Stockholm from 1946 to 1947, and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris 1948. She married fellow artist Kurt Dejmo in 1948. Select exhibitions include the National Museum's exhibition ‘Unga tecknare’ (Young Artists) annually between 1948 and 1951 and numerous times at Sveriges allmänna konstförenings (Sweden's general art association) spring salons at Liljevalch's art gallery. Among her public decorations is a work she and her husband Kurt Dejmo created in 1975 for Kungälv's church.
Her subject matter was still lifes, figures, portraits and landscapes and she worked in oil, watercolour and graphite.
Emitslöf-Dejmo’s work is held in a number of public collections including examples at Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Moderna Muséet in Stockholm, and the Bohusläns Museum in Uddevalla.
She passed away on 20 September 2006 at the age of 82.
