artist bio
Bernt Johan Ringqvist was born December 31, 1917 in Skaraborg. He was a Swedish painter.
Ringqvist completed his higher education in Jönköping and then studied at Otte Sköld's målarskola (painting school) in Stockholm and in France.
He was a member of the Konstnärernas riksorganisation (KRO - National Artists' Organisation). Ringqvist had solo exhibitions in Stockholm in 1949 and 1964 as well as at the museums in Jönköping, Växjö, Borås and Eskilstuna. He also participated in group exhibitions in Stockholm and Paris.
Examples of Ringqvist's works are held in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping County Museum, Småland Museum in Växjö and Eskilstuna Art Museum museums, the courthouse in Falköping and the Jönköping city collection.
He passed away at the age of 48 on September 6, 1966 in Mölekullen.
